Dubai Design Week welcomed families and visitors of all ages to be at the epicentre of all things design, all weekend long with workshops, pop-ups and exhibitions.

Pop-ups
Original product and accessory designs by local makers and artisans were on offer at the Merchants and Makers Market throughout the weekend. La Suite with its singular pop-up retail experience was a visitor favourite. And Deliveroo hosted Design, Delivered, an immersive (and delicious) experience.

Visitors got to see Swiss watchmaker Rado’s pop-up exhibition devoted to the father of modern architecture, Le Corbusier.

Food and music in the garden
Akiba Garden hosted an outdoor space for festival-goers to unwind from the bustling weekend program with Akiba’s take on Japanese street food and drink, accompanied by live music from noon to late. Live jazz was part of the Garden’s chill, family-friendly daytime atmosphere, beginning at noon, and DJs spun a mix of Japanese hip-hop, R&B and retro reggae.

Workshops for children and visitors of all ages
Making Space offered families, adult and children workshops including giant origami animals, to the Designathon, which brings children together in teams to create innovative solutions to real-world problems related to food and climate action. A full range of hands-on activities was offered for weekend visitors of every age and skill level, including workshops on fragrance design, visual storytelling and architecture photography.

Exhibitions and installations
Dubai Design District (d3) transformed with special installations, including the Audi Innovation Hub and Madar, which offered a look at the current state of design in the Middle East. As well as interactive installations like The Maze, and Abwab, that commissioned work from India, the Eastern Provinces of Saudi Arabia and Lebanon.

Weekend visitors to d3 saw dozens of exhibitions throughout the grounds, including Downtown Editions, Downtown Design's dedicated fair-section featuring the latest limited-edition designed objects and brand launches. Designs that make the world a better place showcased in the Global Grad Show, and discover Expo 2020 Dubai Experiential Pop-up, giving visitors a taste of the largest event in the Arab world’s history.
