Built on the edge of the Dubai Creek, d3’s new urban park, the Block, will host a range of installations set in an alternative venue that will bring together some of the region’s young and experimental architects.

Projects include:

Weaving the Mashrabiya Pavilion: a structure designed using computational modelling and built by students from the Department of Architectural Engineering at the University of Sharjah.

Weave X: a series of urban interventions consisting of installations, sculptures and pavilions made from palm fronds (Arish).

Solitary: an installation highlighting emotional states of autism through parametric design and sound.

The Mesh: an FBMI initiative that reinterprets traditional crafts and heritage through contemporary design.

The Block is d3’s urban beach and is a recreational community space for all the family. During Dubai Design Week it will also be activated with food trucks and on Thursday evening Fictive by Empire Sessions will hold live performances with music and poetry.
