Dubai Design Week 2026: Programme Highlights

Dubai Design Week 2026 returns to Dubai Design District (d3) from 3-8 November 2026 for its 12th edition, celebrating people, ideas and creative exchange.

For more than a decade, Dubai Design Week has brought together designers, architects, creative practitioners and audiences from across the region and beyond. In 2026, the festival turns its attention to the role design can play in strengthening connection at a time when the ways we interact, work and communicate are being rapidly reshaped.

Across the programme, projects consider the experiences, encounters and relationships that form around design – from the spaces people gather in and the languages they use, to the objects, materials and systems that shape everyday life.

SPECIAL COMMISSIONS

Urban Commissions returns under the theme Atmospheres, looking beyond architecture as physical form to consider how light, temperature, sound, material and spatial sequence influence the way a place is experienced.

This year’s winning proposal,Three Gardens and a Room, comes from Dubai-based architecture practice NAO Architects, founded by architect Reem Nassour. The project reimagines the garden through interconnected environments arranged around a shared central space. Foliage, colour, shade, thermal comfort, materiality and filtered light create distinct conditions for visitors to move through, gather, pause and connect.

INSTALLATIONS

Across d3, large-scale installations and site-specific interventions will transform the public realm through experiments in architecture, material, craft and technology.

International practices include Arquitectonica, with a participatory installation centred on collective interaction and play; Nordic Office Architects, exploring the relationship between light and shadow; and Japan’s Nikken Sekkei with SOBOKUYA, presenting CHATAI 2.0, an expanded timber structure combining traditional Japanese craftsmanship with spaces for gathering and communal making.

Duette Studio also returns with a new installation alongside Duette+, its programme of conversations, workshops and creative exchange while Emirati-Jordanian architect Rasha Saffarini presents Taqleem, drawing on the traditional practice of palm-tree trimming to create a contemporary communal space.
