Dubai Design Week’s Abwab pavilions designed by LOCI Architecture+Design has been shortlisted for the 2015 Middle East Architect Awards in the Community & Cultural Project of the Year.

A Dubai Design Week initiative, Abwab (“doors” in Arabic) saw six pavilions given over to designers and curators from Jordan, Kuwait, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and the UAE. Under the theme of Games: The Element of Play in Culture, Abwab celebrated the MENASA region’s diverse creative thinking.

Integrated into the walkways of Dubai Design District (d3), the Abwab pavilions were designed by Dubai-based architecture and design studio, Loci Architecture+Design using multiwall polycarbonate sheets partially filled with sand to mesmerizing effect.

The Middle East Architect Awards 2015 will be announced on 25 November.
