Every year, the D6 architecture team at Heriot-Watt University Dubai invites renowned speakers as part of their public program. This year the Architecture programme at Heriot Watt University, Dubai collaborated with Dubai Design Week for the annual Open Series (OS) 2021-22, a series of public lectures organised by the programme.

This was an opportunity to hear from Architects, Designers and Academicians from the region and worldwide, as they gave insights into their practice and research.

This public lecture highlighted the programme's vision that addresses relevant contemporary issues. These issues established and highlighted the transformative role of architecture, with human-centric design and a strong socio-cultural response at all levels of design and detail. With the rapidly changing urban fabric in mind, the lecture explored new models for the future of place making and re-imagines the spatial contract. It is that intangible feeling of space that is the “pause place’ to be still or interact, giving it life and a certain elemental identity.
