International Design Brands at the Forefront of d3
The heart of Dubai’s design scene, d3 beats with life during Dubai Design Week, providing a platform for both international and regional talent. Listed below are a few of the events hosted by d3’s international business partners for all visitors to explore.
ARMANI/CASA’s new collection, will be presented by Finasi. ARMANI/CASA showcases Giorgio Armani’s ideal for living and his dream of the perfect environment. ARMANI/CASA’s distinctive style incorporates a harmonious combination of the style of the Thirties and Forties and the cultures of the Far East. Precious materials, sophisticated niches, splendid textiles and immaculate details express a cultivated stylistic code that is the result of contemporary research.
For some more furniture inspiration, Haworth will present the Openest installation between buildings 5 & 7, which will give you a glimpse of Patricia Urquiola’splayful and poetic, yet pragmatic and functional style. Her collection for Haworth provides unexpected yet familiar furnishings that set the tone for thoughtful connection and contemplation.
Experience the best of art & design with Arte Veneziana who will host a one-of-a-kind live engraving show on glass as well as entertain guests regarding the infinite possibilities of working with mirror, an ancient material that still enchants for its superb capacity of being modern décor.
IV will open itsflagship lifestyle store, presenting exclusive collections from Rene Cazares, a Los Angeles based furniture designer, and from Robert Sonneman, progressive architect as well as lighting designer from New York.
Meanwhile, Italian design and architectural lighting company Artemide will hold their Launch of Yanzi by Neri & Hu. The Yanzi lights are lightweight compositions of balanced structures, such as branches or perches, supporting multiple stylized swallows to provide a range of light. The swallows are either flying free or contained in glass cages and have brushed brass bodies, with white glass, spherical heads enclosing light.
You can also visit Swarovski’s open studio, featuring the debut Atelier Swarovski Home collection of innovative and functional design objects for the home with pieces by Fredrikson Stallard, Aldo Bakker, Kim Thomé and Ron Arad on, and place exclusive pre-orders on the range which includes centerpieces, vases, bowls and candleholders.
Do not miss Mirage Project Point’s DESIGN YOUR TILE exhibition where porcelain stoneware will be used as a blank canvas for inspiration and new expressions of design, by demonstrating the unique vision of architects and interior designers in a brand new way. Presented with just a simple black marker, a large slab of porcelain stoneware and their own creativity, they have to create something innovative.
Attend Grimshaw’s design technology hands-on workshop, which will use example case studies to show how advanced computational techniques and VR can be used throughout the design process. Take part in a discussion session to learn how VR is being used in our current projects, and brainstorm how you can employ computational design and virtual reality technology on your own projects. You can also drop in for Grimshaw’s Open House at its newest office,showcasing the practice’s work from around the world.
In its workshop to empower future leaders, Eight Inc. examines the urban fabric of Dubai in search of under-utilized spaces in the daily paths of its young people, and considers how the city can support creative uses for these spaces in the hope of making a more livable city and teaching young people to value leadership, innovation, and community-building skills.
