Architectural innovation by AAU Anastas studio, Palestine
Bethlehem-based architecture studio AAU Anastas has completed a prototype of a free-standing stone vault in Jericho which will be later used for the construction of el-Atlal residency for artists and writers in the Palestinian city.
The stone pavilion, @elAtlal_Jericho (Palestine) is the result of a two-year research programme and combines digital fabrication with know-how and material available locally in Palestine. Every point in Palestine is, at most, 50km far from the closest stone quarry.
AAU Anastas is led brother duo Elias and Yousef who curated and designed 'Mass Imperfections', an installation from Palestinian olive wood that formed part of Dubai Design Week's Abwab exhibition exploring the rich and varied design narrative of the region.
