Transformed wind-swept desert dunes into layered glass, capturing their fleeting beauty with light and form.

Wind moved through the desert in its own rhythm, shaping patterns as it swept across the sand. It left behind traces of itself, an ever-changing imprint, fleeting and almost impossible to capture. Living and breathing, yet unyielding to external forces, the desert’s story unfolded within the layered glass of the installation designed by Petr Vacek.

Structured and smooth surfaces evoked the shifting forms of dunes, shaped over time by wind and nature. A golden nano coating captured the brief moment when sunlight ignited the sand, while dynamic illustrations infused the work with movement, reminding visitors that even in stillness, the desert possessed its own pulse.

The design was brought to life through a specialised mathematical model that determined the exact position of each glass component, forming the organic patterns of wind-blown dunes. With the addition of dynamic lighting, the installation came alive, transforming a static structure into a living, breathing reflection of the desert.
