A special off-site edition of CAAD’s Six Degrees exhibition, celebrated regional design innovation through showcases, talks and interactive workshops.

Building on the success of CAAD’s annual graduate exhibition Six Degrees, this special off-site edition celebrated the creative energy of CAAD through a series of exhibitions, talks and interactive workshops that showcased the region’s emerging design voices.

Visitors were encouraged to explore a diverse range of projects, engage with CAAD’s faculty and alumni and experience the spirit of design education that continues to define the American University of Sharjah’s College of Architecture, Art and Design.

Talks on Wednesday, November 5 and Thursday, November 6 included:

Faculty Talk – Practice, Process and Print
A conversation moderated by CAAD Dean Joe Colistra on making books with CAAD faculty featuring Jason Carlow, Kevin Mitchell, Hala Al Ani, Riem Ibrahim, Seth Thompson and John Montague.

Alumni Night – Alumni Presentations + Panel Discussion
Featuring Ayesha Fernandes, Nabeeha Sajjad, Abdulla Abbas, Aisha Ibrahimbasha and Yazan Alnagar.

The workshops held on Friday, November 7 and Saturday, November 8 were a combination of CAAD Clubs Workshops, the TSC Book Launch and Digital Media. The schedule included:

Lino Totes Workshop
Hands-on linocut printing on tote bags using CAAD-inspired designs. Drop-in activity until supplies ran out.

Photography Workshop with Salma Hani
Introduction to aperture, ISO and shutter speed. Indoor demonstration and outdoor practice with tripods and feedback.

Collage Storytelling with Shahed Ismaeel
Expressive paper collage workshop exploring visual storytelling.
Time: 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM

Thresholds Book Launch by The Student Collective
Time: 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Analog to Light Workshop
A two-part, hands-on session bridging bookbinding and digital media. Participants bound and illustrated flipbooks, animated and learnt the basics of projection mapping with Ayesha Fernandes and Faysal Fattouh.
