An exhibition presenting work by students from Zayed University who have developed design development skills using a ‘design by making’ methodology through which they also learn digital and manual manufacturing processes.

The College of Arts and Creative Enterprises (CACE) at Zayed University teaches design through research. Students are empowered to develop creative, innovative solutions by combining observations of local communities with the latest technological advancements. The promotion of a ‘making’ culture kickstarts a local paradigm shift – a movement towards globally acquired knowledge and local production.

CACE’s course investigates design-build systems that can be communicated to students with no architectural or design background. The process instils collaboration between makers in the community and technology in the design studio lab Techshop.
