Downtown Design returns from 12-15 November this year, with the Spanish Pavilion making its debut at the fair; part of growing interest from country-specific initiatives looking to promote their design industries in the Middle East.

Celebrating the distinct traits of the region’s design scene while simultaneously engaging the international audience, Downtown Design offers a gateway for design brands from around the world to break into the Middle East market, whilst providing the region's industry with the infrastructure it needs to thrive and expand onto an international stage.

Organised by ICEX Spain Trade & Investment, Spain will highlight some of their most innovative brands under, bringing together both the country’s passion for design and the Spanish peoples’ celebration of creativity. Designs from renowned contemporary brands such as Kettal and Cosentino, traditional names such as Lladro that utilise age-old craftsmanship techniques, and artisanal brands including Nanimarquina and Naturtex known for their handcrafted materials and natural fibre, will be showcased at the showcase within the Downtown Design fair this year.

In 2018, amongst the design contingents who promoted their industries were Italy, Poland and Portugal. This year, Spain’s involvement highlights a collaboration between the Middle East and Spain, as cultural and economic partners.

“Given Downtown Design’s importance as the most relevant design exhibition in the Middle East, ICEX Spain Trade & Investment wants to take the opportunity of showcasing the quality of our country’s design and position Spain as a leading supplier of innovative products and solutions for architects, interior designers and real estate developers in the Middle East” says Erik Rovina, Economic & Commercial Counsellor of the Embassy of Spain in the UAE.
