Fata Morgana, the winning 2020 Abwab commission brought to Expo 2020 Dubai by Dubai Design Week will have a new home at Terra - The Sustainability Pavilion, offering an immersive journey through the wonders of the natural world.

Ahead of the World Expo in October 2021, visitors in January will be able to explore Terra and enjoy the unique surrounding public spaces which now includes Fata Morgana (Dubai Design Week 2020) and the Lattoo stools (Dubai Design Week 2017) amongst more.

Fata Morgana, the conceptual framework for a modern-day city designed by Hozan Zangana in collaboration with Generous Studio and Woodcast Designs, was unveiled at Dubai Design Week 2020, with pillars symbolic for each of the seven Emirates, constructed using the rammed earth technique in homage to the local constructing methods – the installation can now be rediscovered by visitors at the Expo 2020 Pavilions Premiere.

Terra (which means ‘Planet Earth’) – The Sustainability Pavilion will offer an immersive journey through the wonders of the natural world, including an interactive walk through the roots of the forest, where every footstep affects the ‘wood-wide-web’. Uncovering the hidden harmful impacts of our choices, the emotive experience is designed to encourage visitors of all ages, and the younger generation, in particular, to consider how their behaviour impacts the environment and break the cycle of consumerism, empowering them to become agents of change.

The Sustainability Pavilion will be open to the public from 22 January until 10 April 2021.
