For Dubai Design Week 2020 as part of Downtown Design’s activations at the d3 Quarter in Dubai Design District (d3), Associative Design will present a conceptual showcase spotlighting the diversity of Portuguese design.

Established by the Portuguese Association of Wood and Furniture Industries (AIMMP), Associative Design strives to raise the profile of Portuguese design globally. Within a conceptual Portuguese home that will be staged at Dubai Design District (d3), they will bring the flair and creativity synonymous with their brands to the Middle East.

At the intersection of artisanship and technology, Portuguese creativity draws parallels with the Middle East’s design scene. Associative Design’s selection of brands – ranging from furniture and lighting to home accessories and textiles – mirrors this unique design culture.

For the showcase titled ‘The Best of Portugal’, Associative Design has selected 18 brands that speak to the growing demand for contemporary design solutions in the Middle East across residential, hospitality and commercial sectors.

They include Ferreira de Sá Rugs, João Bruno Design and Achilles since 1905 who will showcase unique carpets, furniture and metal accessories that highlight the rigour and quality of Portuguese craftsmanship. Known for their creative partnerships with prestigious international designers, fine porcelain atelier Vista Alegre will present new work developed in collaboration with Ross Lovegrove and others.

Reflecting Portugal’s commitment to conscious design, brands including Around the Tree, DeFontes, Malabar, Homel Design Furniture and Creative Mary, amongst others, will present their latest collections that marry sustainability with high-craft and material innovation.

Open across the entire duration of Dubai Design Week, 9-14 November 2020, ‘The Best of Portugal’ will be located at Dubai Design District (d3), Building 6 (R02). Participating brands will also be featured in the Downtown Design 2020 Digital Fair launching 9 November.
