The dramatic temporary entrance to Dubai Design District during Dubai Design Week, Circadian Light Synthesis, proved to be one of the most popular installations during this year’s festival.

The site-specific structure was constructed by Abanos; the leading interior fit-out and joinery company in the UAE alongside Prime Metal Industries (PMI), one the UAE’s leaders in providing innovative design and technical expertise for all types of steel and aluminum structures.

As a key partner in the project, Abanos and PMI constructed the installation using their expertise in fit-out and metal works to complete the artistic architecture. The construction of the structure was built in the Abanos workshop in Dubai and completed on site. As the company behind the fit-out for Dubai Design District, Abanos and PMI were lead partners in the project alongside lighting technology supplied by Deltalight and exterior rendering provided by Matteo Brioni. The partnerships were brought together by Dubai Design Week and the project architects, Anarchitect.

Circadian Light Synthesis, which remained on-site at d3 for two weeks after Dubai Design Week is composed of two interconnected pavilions, highlighting different positions, colour temperatures and intensity of sunlight that dictate a human body’s natural clock. The original and site-specific project provided an entrance, resting and information point for visitors on arrival at Dubai Design District. With the dedicated work by the Abanos and PMI teams, the project has been carefully preserved for potential re-use in 2019.

Abanos and PMI, associated companies of the ECC Group, have completed iconic and milestone projects in the UAE, including d3, Etihad Museum, Dubai Frame among many others.
