Launched in 2010, Goumbook’s Give a Ghaf Planting Programme is dedicated to conserving the UAE’s national tree — the Ghaf — a symbol of resilience, tolerance, and sustainability.
The initiative raises awareness about the importance of native species in combating desertification, preserving biodiversity, and protecting the UAE’s natural heritage. Through hands-on planting activities with schools, communities, and corporates, participants learn about the ecological and cultural value of the Ghaf while becoming guardians of the seeds they plant.
Goumbook is a social enterprise dedicated to accelerating sustainability and climate action in the UAE and beyond since 2009. We shape the global sustainability landscape by offering local solutions to corporates, youth, civil society and public sector. We raise awareness, run initatitives, advice and consult to change mindsets and create impact on the current and future living experience of the people in our region.
WORKSHOP: Ghaf Seed Planting Activity
Join us for a fun and meaningful Ghaf Seed Planting activity — a hands-on experience for both children and adults to connect with nature and celebrate the UAE’s national tree, the Ghaf.
Through this interactive session, participants will learn about the cultural and ecological importance of the Ghaf tree — a symbol of resilience, unity, and sustainability in the UAE. The activity combines education and action, allowing participants to fill their own pots with soil, plant Ghaf seeds, and take them home to nurture and watch them grow.
Designed for all ages, this experience encourages families and individuals to become guardians of the Ghaf, promoting environmental awareness and a shared sense of responsibility toward protecting the UAE’s native biodiversity.
