SAE Institute, 2nd Level, Block 16, Knowledge Village

The art of paper engendering (folds, pulls, pop-ups and turns) spans across 500 years; originally it was used to create movable books that facilitate astronomical calculations, mathematical geometry, architectural perspective and human anatomy. Most movable books were and are still created to entertain. Many movable novelty books, toys and games designed by the great innovators still fascinate us to date with their complex structure and creative thinking.

The Paper Engineering: Intro to Pop-ups workshop will cover the basic techniques used in making pop-ups and will cover the V fold, the pop-up layer and the V fold with flaps. Attendees of the workshop will apply these techniques and mechanisms through provided samples and through creative mixing of skills learned to communicate messages and ideas.

The workshop will provide the skills needed to create basic pop-up cards through the use of the 3 techniques learned and demonstrated during the session.
