A pavilion reimagining the building envelope as an active environmental system through modular 3D-printed self-shading façade panels.

ShadeForm explores how computation translates environmental performance into design expression. Featuring 1:4 and 1:8 scale replicas, 3D printed in PETG/PLA, it functions as an exhibition piece, detailing the design logic, thought process and parametric development. Together, the workflow links AI exploration, computational logic, performance analysis and digital fabrication into an adaptive system.

About Collaborative Design Laboratory
Collaborative Design Laboratory is a personal research and teaching platform documenting design experiments, studio pedagogy and ongoing research at the edges of architecture. Run by Dr. Basem Eid Mohamed, Associate Professor at the College of Arts and Creative Enterprises (CACE) at Zayed University, the lab brings together design studio pedagogy, digital fabrication and research on prefab housing, mass customisation and robotic fabrication. His work bridges academia and industry through collaborations with housing authorities and partners across Canada and the UAE.
