Kart Group
A reimagining of the Ghaf tree as an interactive musical structure, inviting visitors to play colourful keys and create spontaneous rhythms within a shaded public space.
Inspired by the Ghaf tree, a symbol of endurance, generosity and gathering within the desert landscape, Resonance brings together nature, design and community through sound, colour and shade. Its branches rise to form a canopy beneath which visitors can move, pause, sit and connect.
The leaves become colourful musical keys inspired by the xylophone, while hanging mallets, resembling cherries, invite visitors to reach, touch and play. Each interaction produces sound, allowing visitors to create spontaneous melodies and shared rhythms.
Light filters through colour, metal carries sound and hands meet different textures, creating a multi-sensory environment shaped by light, movement and interaction. The experience changes with each visitor and the sounds they create.
Moving between sculpture, shaded public space and musical instrument, Resonance accommodates gathering, play, contemplation and shared performance. Its atmosphere shifts with the changing light, the sounds produced and the presence of visitors, transforming the public realm into a place for collective musical expression and connection.
