A public garden pavilion that transforms palm based materials into an immersive space for discovery, pause and connection.

The Pleated Garden is a public garden pavilion by NOA, designed as a place for visitors to pause, sit and reconnect. Its sculptural, pleated exterior encloses an intimate planted room, reached through narrow thresholds.

Seating and planting line the perimeter around a shared open centre, allowing visitors to sit alone, share a conversation or gather as a group. Repeated palm strand board panels form the enclosure, filtering light and framing glimpses of the sky, while textured board, the scent of palm and dates, foliage, shifting shadow and warm light engage the senses.

The section changes with height, with an enclosing base giving way to a more open upper structure that directs views towards the sky. Palm informs the project as material and form, with repeated components, limited cutting and demountable connections supporting reuse after the event.
