Dubai Collection
Explore printmaking techniques and artistic references to create layered compositions through experimentation with shapes, patterns and colour.
Inspired by Dubai Collection’s 2026 programme theme, Geometries of the Imagination, this workshop invites children to explore how shapes, colours, patterns and repeated forms can create a visual language. Drawing inspiration from selected works by Sarah Almehairi, Rana Begum, Moustafa Fathi and Etel Adnan, participants will experiment with collage, stamping and block printing to create their own compositions.
Through cutting, printing and layering, children will explore geometry, repetition, colour and abstraction. Younger participants will use shaped sponges, foam stamps and pre-prepared printing blocks, while older participants can try basic linocut techniques with guidance from the facilitator. Rather than recreating existing artworks, the workshop encourages experimentation and individual interpretation through materials and form.
About Dubai Collection
Dubai Collection is a public collection of modern and contemporary art built through long-term loans from private patrons. Focusing on artistic practices connected to Dubai and the wider Gulf, the collection makes works accessible through an online platform, research and curated exhibitions and programmes. It supports engagement with the region’s artistic landscape and creates opportunities for dialogue between artists, collectors, researchers and the public.
