In light of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Downtown Design’s new hybrid format for 2020 brought the design community together across digital and physical platforms and offered both design professionals as well as enthusiasts inspiration and insight to navigate the new design landscape.

Featuring a digital fair and a virtual talks programme complemented with a conceptual design exhibition and tailor-made physical brand experiences staged within Dubai Design District (d3), the hybrid format was presented across the entire duration of Dubai Design Week, 9 - 14 November 2020.

THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME
Spotlighting progressive design thinking from the Middle East and featuring a diverse group of the region’s architects and interior designers, the multi-media exhibition explored how we will live, work and play in the future. The exhibition took place 9-14 November 2020 in Building 4, Dubai Design District (d3).

ONSITE BRAND ACTIVATIONS
Showcasing the flair and refinement of their contemporary design scene to the Middle East, Portugal and the UK presented curated selections of exclusive design brands – from furniture and lighting to textiles and home accessories - at Dubai Design District (d3) during Dubai Design Week.

DOWNTOWN DESIGN 2020 DIGITAL FAIR
Featuring the latest collections from leading international and regional design brands, Downtown Design’s digital fair offered both design professionals, as well as enthusiasts the opportunity to reconnect with the thriving contemporary design scene. The Digital Fair was launched 9 November 2020.

VIRTUAL TALKS
As technology intermediates the design industry, Downtown Design's acclaimed talks programme was presented virtually. Featuring regional and international experts, the panel discussions spotlight the new value system that has evolved as a positive response to recent challenges. The virtual panel discussions were premiering daily during Dubai Design Week on www.downtowndesign.com and Downtown Design’s Instagram @downtowndesignd.
