The Audi Innovation Talks was a daily programme of conversations with experts exploring the future potential of technology and innovation.

Digitalscape - Learning from Nature

As designers and architects, what can we learn from nature? One way to answer this question is to study how design occurs in nature and observe the inherent processes that evolution employs in arriving at solutions. The observation of natural systems can offer new capabilities and approaches for design project morphogenesis.

The talk will illustrated the latest designs from Parsons Built Environment as well as the outcomes of the design workshop held in collaboration with MEAL* in 2019, exploring boundaries of innovative technologies and researching novel tectonics, contextual to the Middle East.

Mattia Gambardella is the Creative Director of Parsons and is based in the Urban Design Studio in Dubai, and his work focuses on the convergence between art, digital techniques and social sciences. After graduating from the Polytechnic of Milan, he studied and worked in Italy, Norway (NTNU) France and the UK before completing his MA program at the Architectural Association in London. He taught at the London Metropolitan University; he was Master Unit Lead at University of Kent and Adjunct Professor at AUD Dubai. His award-winning work on generative design and responsive architecture has been presented in Canada, Barcelona, and Taiwan.

Free to attend and no registration required.

The programme reflected Audi’s commitment to informing and empowering the regional design community, through a free-to-attend talk series. The talks provided experts with an intimate setting to engage with audiences in direct q&a and were hosted every evening throughout Dubai Design Week within the Audi Innovation Hub; a unique space by Audi Middle East, dedicated to innovation and designed by Abdalla Almulla.
